excuses i can make for why i’m posting an ad on here…but i’m not going to bother prefacing my post with those justifications. to be honest, i’m simply tired of hearing “you’re not going to meet a significant other in a club or bar” or “you’re not going to meet someone at a party.” i understand that those aren’t ideal locations for conversation, but aren’t the people in my classes the same people at the parties, bars, and clubs? so does that mean that the guys i meet in my classes are also unworthy? obviously, settings have a huge impact on one’s behavior, but i don’t think that seeing someone in just one of those settings gives an accurate portrayal of his/her personality.

i’d like to meet someone who is versatile and extroverted enough to function in all of those settings. i’m a senior in college so i’d prefer an individual who is not necessarily in school but just really enjoys learning. i dig self-learners a lot because it’s one thing to go to class but it’s definitely impressive when someone enjoys learning outside of the classroom. this summer i haven’t utilized my free time as well as i normally do; i’ve neglected reading/writing in exchange for going out more often, and i really miss having a creative outlet. i’d like to meet someone who can balance going out and staying in. i don’t like either extremity; i’m not a homebody or a party animal. i enjoy spending my time in coffee shops and diners, but i also enjoy drinking/dancing. usually, i like going out and then going to a diner afterwards. i’m pretty flexible when it comes to where i go as well. although i really like going to bloomfield/lawrenceville, i don’t mind going out to the southside either. i think that’s sort of indicative of my eclectic nature. i like a variety of music and hate people who are closed-minded. i don’t care if you’re animal collective’s biggest fan and have every album on vinyl, but i do care if you think hip hop is only what you hear on the radio. as long as you’re open to most genres of music, we’ll get along just fine. same with movies – i can watch just about anything. i wish people would go to the movies more. i don’t understand how people can rationalize buying a fifth of liquor every few days but “can’t afford” to see a movie in the movie theatre? i like “normal” activities just as much as going out.
