420 warning
Saturday, March 20th, 2010Hey folks – like another recent poster, I wanted to warn you about the scam artists and fakers who come out of the woodwork when things dry up around the city. As more “rt. to 420″ posts are made, these sketchy, self-interested types will offer a hookup at varying prices, and find some way to screw you over. They often sell fake bud, oregano, or even pencil shavings (at best the horrible mexican brick), and sometimes have more complex schemes in the works.
Generally, it’s far safer to network around the city, finding those bars where the chill, laid-back heads tend to gather. I’ve managed to meet tons of people, all around D.C, MD, and VA, and have learned this area is never “dry”, regardless of how things may appear. People are generally guarded at first, so don’t broach the subject immediately, but us heads tend to recognize a fellow burner pretty quickly.
But if you do insist on following the CL route, always make sure to get a phone number (blocked calls are a big red flag), and verify your product before handing over the cash. Some of these jerkoffs will show you a “sample” nug of the chronic, saying they need the cash in order to go pick up the full amount, and then running off. Two of my friends were taken with this scheme last year (being too trusting, and anxious to burn), and while they were undoubtedly stupid, no one deserves that kind of crap.
So please – be safe, and be KIND
